The Body Buffet is a fillable workbook to help you get clearer on what you want, and how to ask for it.
Across 32 pages, it walks you through 18 kinds of physical touch, from massage and kissing to kink gear and group play. It also opens up the parts most sex menus leave out: body boundaries, safer sex, non-physical intimacy, sounds and responses, aftercare, fantasies, and the words you actually want said about your body.
Built on Betty Martin's Wheel of Consent and Mia Schachter's Yes-to-No Spectrum, it gives you the language to make your requests for touch specific, and safe.
Fill it in on your own. Share it with a lover. Come back to it in a year and see what's changed. Your body, and your pleasure, are always evolving.
This is the exercise I assign to clients who come to me with the question, "How do I know what I like?" It is a daily, non-sexual mindfulness practice that builds your skill at noticing what you like, in your body, and in sex.
You have a busy brain, but want to learn how to be more embodied.
You feel disconnected from your body and don't know where to start.
You're trying to figure out what you like in sex, but don't know what you like full stop.
You want a clinically-grounded daily practice, without committing to therapy.
The Neck-Up vs. Neck-Down framework. Why we end up in our heads, and what to do about it.
The Common Challenges, including the capitalism question, body resentment, and experiential avoidance.
The two evidence-based therapy skills the practice is built on: DBT's Describing skill and 5 senses grounding.
The Pleasure Journal Guide, and four-factor method I use in private practice, with a worked example.
The in-the-moment rule, plus some tips to help you along.
A 7-day starter sequence to ease you into the practice.
Reflection prompts and journaling space throughout.
I'm Aleksandra Trkulja, a certified Sex Therapist running The Pleasure Centre, a Sydney-based private practice. The Pleasure Journal is the exercise I assign most often. I've been practicing it myself for years.
